Seven Pounds...

No, it's not the weight I'm trying to lose this year. It's one of the best and most thought provoking movies I've seen in a long time. I must say, it's perfect timing too. What better way is there to improve yourself, than to see how you can give back? Of course...nothing as drastic and permanent as what the character of Ben Thomas does....but life-changing nonetheless. I think I will try to ask myself more often ,"What can I do?" To see others and what they need instead of always being concerned with what my needs are....it seems I may have a lot to work on.

By the way, I recommend this movie to everyone!

Sorry Amy I disagree on 7 pounds. We saw it last night and I felt empty after watching it. The only thing it provoked me to do was read more reviews before I watch the next Will Smith movie. The film's relentlessly somber tone becomes alienating. It's hard to care what the conclusion is if only more gloom awaits. Two big thumbs down!!!! Kevin

Aww, but Kevin, you missed the whole point. There is only one "gloom" in this movie, the death of Ben Thomas. There are seven other people whose lives are changed for the better...besides reality is constantly filled with emptiness, it's all about how we "fill" the emptiness. Besides, I had to expect at least one Mortimer to comment and disagree, I think you all like a good debate. :)

On an emotional level, one could decree that the movie is satisfying. On an intellectual level, it's disappointingly shallow.
